Water Spotted Nails

Okay so after many many attempts I think I have come pretty close to duplicating the water spotted mani that has been seen by many on Cutepolish. I looked everywhere for a hand sanitizer that sprayed, I used alcohol, I used acetone, and I used little perfume sample bottles (bad idea). After trial and error I just decided to use a spray pump from one of my hair products and stick it into a full bottle of hand sanitizer with aloe.

Here are the items I used.
Color Club Over the Moon
OPI Black Onyx
Out The Door top coat
Vaseline
A medium angled art brush for the Vaseline
An orange wood stick
Purell hand sanitizer with aloe
And a votive holder full of luke warm water

I started off by painting two coats of Color Club Over The Moon (didn't get pictures, sorry)
After both coats were dry I got my water and other supplies. I used the angled brush to brush Vaseline around the outside of my cuticles, the under side of my finger, and up to my knuckle. Once my finger were prepped I was ready to go. I used 6 drops of the Black Onyx in order to get it as dark as I wanted it to be.

After I was finish with both hands I wrapped a little bit of cotton on the orange wood stick and cleaned up all the excess polish that was on my fingers. I like this method more than the tape method. The polish seems to come off in big chunk and it makes for an easier clean up. Plus it softens your fingers a bit during the process and your not using a ton of tape.

Now on to the final results.

Please excuse the fact that I had a total Klonopin durrr moment and totally forgot to edit these.

Thanks for looking, Crystal :)

This weeks books were Die For Me and Until I Die by Amy Plum. I also read Awakened by Brenda K Davis. All three books were kind of meh. I liked the first two way more than the last book I read.

Happy New Year!!

I hope all of you had a safe and happy new year. My husband and I rang in the new year with my cousins and some friends. We played a game called Headbands, ate some food, and had some drinks. Good times :)

My mani for new years eve was nothing fancy or spectacular. I kept it pretty simple and just did a glitter gradient over one of my Color Club holos. I wish I could say that it did as well as I did last night, but it didn't. Not sure how it happened, but I was pretty rough on my nails. They are chipped everywhere!!

(Color Club  Holo-Graphic and Nails Inc Pink Diamond)

I really love how holo these Color Club polishes are. For one of my new years resolutions I am going to try and wear more of my holos :)

So there you have it, my new years eve mani. Color Club Holo-Graphic and Nails Inc Pink Diamond. I am sure I will be using Pink Diamond a lot in the future.

It's been a while

I have totally been MIA for a while. Well the reason is bad luck. I had four nail breaks in one week and they weren't minor. They were the type of nail break that leaves your nail feeling nothing but pain when you bump it on something or put it in hot water :( Then I had two more. Six nails all together. They are slowly but surely starting to grow out.

See I am not really confident as it is when it comes to blogging or taking pictures of my nails, so there was no way I was going to attempt to post pictures of my severe nubs. Last night I decided I would give it a shot.

So I have for you one of the new polishes from OPI's Mariah Carey collection. Get Your Number is one out of the four that I bought from the collection. I picked this one after I swatched it on a nail wheel. It didn't seem really dry or gritter when I put it on my nails and let it dry for a while, but I noticed today on my swatch wheel that it looks very dry and gritty. The application was good with this polish and so was removal. I just did foil wrap on my nails for a minute or two and it came right off.

(OPI Get Your Number)
This is with two coats of Out The Door. After putting on a top coat it really reminds me of a blue China Glaze Atlantis.

Um Yeah I seem to be a bit a freak with my left middle finger. It is way longer than any of my other fingers, on both hands. LOL

This is the best picture that I could get of this polish before top coat. No matter which angle I tried it looked shiny.

Thanks for stopping by :)

Bookworm for a reason

Well my name does say bookworm doesn't it, so I thought it would only be right to throw some book stuff in every once in a while. Like the nights that I spend hours doing homework with my youngest daughter and I do not have time to do my nails. Like, um, tonight and last night.

My love for books started at a young age. The first book that I can recall reading was A Wrinkle In Time. After that it was your regularly assigned books in school. How To Kill A Mocking Jay, Where The Red Fern Grows, James and The Giant Peach, and Little Women.

When I got to junior high my taste in books greatly changed. I discovered True Crime novels. Most people would think that this is an odd choice for a 7th grader, and maybe it is, but I knew nothing of what the world or the people in it was really like until I started to read these books. My choice in books didn't change until I was 29. Yep never read a non fiction book all those years. Not once(well not for myself at least).

After running out of movies to rent at Blockbuster I broke down and rented Twilight. I had no clue what it was or anything about the books until I saw the movie. Being a little curious I went and got some cheap paperback and decided to see what all the fuss was about. It was all downhill from there. It was so different having a break from reality. I read book, after book, after book. I bought all of the Twilight books, and then I moved on to the books of my most favorite movies, Harry Potter. I read all of them in two weeks.

Over the past three years I have read a handful of series. I seem to gravitate more towards paranormal smut as I like to call it. The Black Dagger Brotherhood series is my favorite so far. It has vampires, smut, and it throws in some ass kicking. Some other great series are; The Hunger Games, The Fallen Series, Sookie Stackhouse, The Mortal Instruments, and The Dark Duet series. There is also Fifty Shades of Grey. While the story line was interesting and kept you wondering what the outcome was going to be, the writing sucked. Not saying I didn't enjoy the books, because I did, just saying the writing was a little off.

So there you have it. A little look into some of the books I read and how I became a bookworm. And now with an insanely fast growing polish collection, I am The Polished Bookworm.

What are some of your favorite books? I am always open to reading something new :)

Thanks for stopping by my blog, Crystal :)

Waiting on Snow

The one thing I hate most about winter is the cold. I think that if it is going to be cold it should be snowing, but so far we have only had one snow storm. Here it is November 25th and there is no snow in the future forecast. The Weather Channel does predict some snow on the 9th of December, but not enough for a white Christmas. What?!?! I live in Utah, know for the greatest snow on Earth, um where is my snow. LOL Okay on to my mani.

Due to the lack of snow I decided to create my own with this mani. This is my first attempt at doing stamping that didn't use a full nail stamp. I am semi pleased with it. I originally had three plates picked out for this one, but no matter what I did I couldn't get my Bundle Monster plate to work. I used two coats of China Glaze Frostbite and Finger Paints Paper Mache for the stamping. For the snowflakes I used RA-119 and Konad m59.

It is not the cleanest stamping ever, but I like it anyway. Hope you you like it :)

Perfect for Monday

Today's mani is perfect for Monday. I don't know what it is about Mondays, but they always suck. It always feels like there is so much to do and not enough time in the day.

For this mani I used Running in Circles from the new China Glaze Cirque Du Sole collection. This color was one of my must haves from the collection. To me it seems to be a mix of glitter and metallic. It took two thin coats to get full opacity with this color. I wish I could have captured the true beauty that this color is.
